‘HOW to Focus for Golf’ with Paul Hebdon, DOI John Letters Academy and Colin Cromack, Target Oriented Golf.

Target Oriented Golf Seminar
John Letters AcademyPaul Hebdon Your inner voice is the heartbeat of consciousness, ignore it at your peril! - Colin CromackColin Cromack

Concentrate. Focus. Stay Present. Words easily and often spoken. FOCUS is the ultimate golf skill ALL golfers seek to master.

Paul Hebdon and Colin Cromack, founder of Target Oriented Golf, are delighted to present a 1 day golf workshop comprising of a unique golf psychology seminar in the morning followed by its practical application out on the range in the afternoon. You will learn HOW to focus your CONSCIOUS mind for golf and build robust mental routines for competition. IF you strive to play with ambitions for high level, consistent performances, Professional or amateur, do not miss this unique coaching experience.

Target Oriented Golf will teach you WHY, WHERE and HOW to focus your mind to play your best golf. Is your attention on what you are looking at or what you are thinking about as you swing today? Is there a difference? Which has priority? What about during the seconds as you prepare? Ball? Swing? Water? Score? There is a real difference and it critically impacts your ability to perform. You will understand the consequence of random thought in your golf routines. Are you outcome or target oriented? Why should you care? What is the present and why is it so important to 'be' there? Do you understand how to focus for golf?

Come and discover HOW to focus your CONSCIOUS mind to play consistent golf through deliberate range practice.

Colin will explain in detail what Attentional Focus is and how to achieve it consistently for golf. Some call it the performance Zone but do not understand how they get there or why they leave it so quickly! You will discover an understanding and awareness of your CONSCIOUS mind and how to use it out on the golf course. It is how you CHOOSE to think which determines the reality you experience on and off the golf course. Let us help you make the right choices for competition.

"If there is a target, there can be no technical thoughts. If there are technical thoughts there can be no target. This really sums up why we need to practice. When we practice technical skills we use conscious thought about what we are doing, whereas if we are playing on the course we need to be target focused, i.e no technical thoughts. You can’t do it all on the course. You need to change the way you practice!" - Steven Orr, PGA Advanced Professional.

Take a moment to observe what developing attentional focus skills looks like in practice:

Before - simply notice the variability in head movements prior to execution and lack of target focus. This is typical of a golfer LOOKING at but not SEEING the target due to a lack of attentional focus training. Technical proficiency and attentional focus are significantly different golf skills which should be developed in practice. Why? In competition, it is often erroneous thought during the pre-shot routine which detrimentally affects your physiology and impairs your golf swing under 'perceived' pressure.

After - good time on state, peaceful over the ball and enjoying the challenge of 'owning' the target prior to looking back at the ball. The subconscious manages the swing when you are trained to maintain your focus of attention on target when executing not ball, swing or outcomes. This is the art of golf. External rather than internal focus. It must be trained on range in addition to and independent of technical skills. You learn to TRAIN and TRUST. This is the real benefit of learning Target Oriented Golf.

There is a lot to understand about the WHY in order to consistently apply the HOW of Target Oriented Golf. Comprehensive theory will be presented in the morning, complemented by its direct practical application on range in the afternoon sessions with Paul and Colin. You will leave this workshop with a single, practical pre, transition and post shot MENTAL routine demonstrating where, when, why and how to guide your conscious mind throughout keeping you both relaxed and focused.

"Colin Cromack's outstanding workshop on 'Getting in the Zone', helps athletes and coaches understand how to improve their performance through developing attentional focus and anxiety management skills. Colin's session was a highlight of this year's conference and had participants wanting more..."

Jeff Hodges, Director of Sportsmind Institute.

"After spending many years at both the amateur and professional level 'searching' for ways to improve my preparation and play, I feel very fortunate to have been involved with Colin Cromack and the techniques of Target Oriented Golf. Not only have my performances steadily improved as I have continued to learn and apply Colin's theories, I know that I have the support of a person who takes genuine delight in seeing their pupils improve and grow in confidence.

I have found the Target Oriented Golf methods to be a clear constant in a game of variables. Those who play regularly will have an appreciation for the unexpected but with Colin's work, these occurrences have much less effect on performance long term as it allows you to bring yourself back to a balanced, consistent mindset. A feeling of 'starting fresh' with each shot is often talked about in golf psychology but in my personal experience Colin has been the only person who has been able to explain AND show how to immediately get into that state in my practice and when competing.

Through Target Oriented Golf, players of all levels have access to skills that will improve both their performance and enjoyment, whether it be in tournament or social play and I recommend these techniques to anyone serious about their golf."
